Tango Video Clip.. Here's a very interesting Argentine
tango video clip. It is a scene from the movie, TANGO by Carlos Saura.
The movie is confusing because it is a tango movie in which we look into
the mind of a director making a tango musical. It is often difficult to
tell when we are seeing reality and when we are looking into the mind
of the director. Although the movie is confusing, the photography, the
tango dancing and music are outstanding! The movie is well-worth seeing,
but don't expect a thrilling story line, just enjoy the sights and sounds..
You may need to watch it more than once to fully appreciate it. You can
order this movie for your private tango movie collection. For more information

In this tango
video clip, the director of the tango musical is watching three
dancers rehearse a scene that was very difficult to choreograph because
tango is usually a dance of just two people. .The dancers are Carlos Rivarola,
Cecilia Narova (in lavender) and Mia Meastro(in red). The music is by
Lalo Shifrin (born in Argentina in 1932).
Lalo studied at the Paris Conservatory and later became
a jazz musician. While playing jazz in the nightclubs in Argentina he
often envied the tango musicians. He grew up watching his mother dance
tango and was very knowlegeable about tango, but found himself playing
jazz. But Lalo got his chance to compose modern tango music when he was
asked to handle the music for this move.
Lalo's jazz influence helps to explain the extensive use
of syncopation in
his tango music. Mr.Schifrin settled in Hollywood in 1964 and did the
music for the TV series Mission Impossible.. The movie Tango came out
in 1998. (Source:

In scene linked to below, a lucky guy tangos with two beautiful
women! -- at first all three dance in a circle with typical cat-like Argentine
tango movements, eyeing each other to the extreme. Then one of the ladies
(very well-endowned) dressed in lavender) pivots sharply and presents
herself to the man..
He takes a hard look at her, but then does a tango walk
to the other women, (Mia Meastro) dressed in redish-orange. The lady in
lavender (Cecilia Narova) retreats to the sidelines and watches the other
two dance. Undaunted Cecilia walks up to the dancing couple and again
presents herself to the man (Carlos). Mia (in red) retreats gracefully
and then watches with a jealous eye.
Cecilia (in lavender) does some wicked steps, as she is
the more experienced dancer in the movie (and in real life). Eventually,
Carlos dances near to Mia, but with his back to her. She puts her hands
on his shoulder. Carlos accepts her embrace and puts his hand on hers.
He dances away with her still behind him, but quickly pivots around to
face Mia. Another guy (who is directing the tango movie) watches with
narrow eyes.
Cecilia, still unwilling to give up, does a free spin to
Carlos and he takes her again into his arms. She dances energetically
as if to impress him, but suddenly gives up and walks away as Mia again
approaches and resumes the dance.Cecilia looks away as if really hurt.
But then she again whirls around to watch.
.
After a beautiful cadence where Mia wraps her leg around Carlos, Cecilia,
who seems unstoppable, again approach the two. She grabs Carlos by his
shoulders and the three now start dancing together!. Amazingly
enough, Carlos is able to dance with both ladies in Argentine tango style
and give them both equal attention. An amazing performance. The guy in
brown -- who appears jealous is the director of the musical -- and he
watches as the three dance together to an exciting finish.
The music is intense and extremely well done. The dancing
is carefully choreographed to the music. Ready to see it? Then click on
